why give?

Believe it or not, giving is not about the money at all; it’s about our hearts. Jesus says, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” If we believe God is the God over all things, than this includes our money too. Giving a tithe, or tenth, of our income is a concept that is referred to in the Scriptures often; it’s even mentioned by Jesus, but more than giving a certain amount, Jesus is calling us to be generous! This means generous with our time, talents and treasures. We care too much about God, His people, and His mission, to not challenge people to look at if they have made money an idol in their lives; or more simply put, if they trust their money more than they trust God. It’s my prayer that we experience more freedom in Christ, and this comes as we grow in our generosity.
